On 1st January 2025, the ASN and IRSN became the French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection - ASNR
The ASNR, the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority, has been combining the missions and activities of the ASN and the IRSN since 1 January 2025, in accordance with the law of 21 May 2024 on the organisation of nuclear safety and radiation protection governance to meet the challenge of reviving the nuclear industry.
The ASNR website has been available online since that date, in French and, for certain content, in English. The website www.asnr.fr features ASNR publications and presents its latest news in the fields of research, expertise, control and regulation, as well as news relating to the international activities of its members and its dialogue with society.
A major overhaul of this site will, from 2026, bring together on a single website the content currently hosted on this website, namely:
- individual and regulatory opinions and decisions taken on behalf of the ASN (until 31 December 2024) and on behalf of the ASNR (since 1 January 2025);
- notices of significant events (‘incident reports’) in the fields of radiation protection and nuclear safety, notices of the restart of nuclear reactors after shutdowns for maintenance, and, in general, all documents related to the control of nuclear facilities and industrial activities;
- public consultations on draft decisions made by the ASNR and licence applications issued by its departments, particularly in the medical and industrial fields;
- all documents useful to professionals in radiation protection, health, industry and nuclear safety (authorisation application forms, reporting forms, feedback on radiotherapy or medical imaging, etc.).
All of this content, which was published until 31 December 2024 by the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) and then on behalf of the ASNR (since 1 January 2025), is available on this website until further notice.
